This paper was developed by focusing on the ‘view on life and death’in 『Chung-tzu』. Chung-tzu suggests the transcendence beyond life and death, as a series of methods to transcend both life and death by escaping from differential factors occurring in human society and excluding anxious awareness and factors. The change of recognition can be consecutively arranged: vigilance against differential factors(差別的要素)-> escaping from anxious awareness and factors -> detachment of self(自我)-> Zhongyong(中道)(德) -> transcendence beyond life and death. Such a conversion of recognition appears as the transcendence beyond life and death, especially, differential factors are conflicting ones in human world and threatens life, leading to reduction of life. While human beings pursues usefulness(有用), the usefulness brings about misfortune(禍) and rather, the useless(無用) gives fortune. This means that conversion of recognition by escaping from discrimination and reckless pursuit of desire excludes anxious factors and awareness of self, and then, the self find enlightenment(朝徹) by escaping(坐忘, 心齋) from external objects(外天下, 外物, 外生), leaves behind(忘形, 忘己, 忘心) external shapes by realizing finiteness and detaching(吾喪我, 無古今) oneself and space-time(古今), loses life and death and becomes the one(攖寧) harmonized with all things. Such a detachment of self appears(保身, 全生, 養親, 盡年) as a virtue(德) when it keeps to Zhongyong(中道), and as transcendence and consequences of life and death, suggesting that the changed recognition that all things are transformed(物化) and they becomes the one(萬物齊同) in the state(道樞) which is free from conflicting factors and differentiation, allows us to arrive at the condition(眞人=道and 合一) of absolute freedom(無己無名,無功) by escaping from all restraints and suppressions, while obeying Heaven’s decree(安命).
