The purpose of this paper is to compare the content of grammar education in elementary schools in North and South Korea. For this purpose, we examined the commonalities and differences between the contents of grammar education in elementary schools of North and South Korea by grammar units such as general language, phonemes ad letters, words, sentences, discourses and norms. The contents of the grammar covered by both Koreas have some differences in scope and level of content. And North Korea did not deal with inquiry learning, grammar attitudes, and general language, and emphasized vocabulary education, normative education and ‘To’ grammar. In addition, North Korea concentrates on literacy in the first grade and deals with the grammar from the second grade in earnest.
