This paper`s primary goal is to analyze the composition principle of <Kkmagwi(까마귀)>, the short story of Taejoon Lee. In this process, it will be found that one of the characters of Lee`s writing style lies in the artificial writings. And how the two seemingly contradicting prospectives, i.e., aestheticism and realism, coexist within Lee`s whole works. My conclusions of this paper are as follows: first of all, <Kkamagwi(까마귀)> was created on the basis of E. A. Poe`s poem [The Raven]and his easy [The Philosophy of Composition]. We ca find this feature through four motives in his <Kkamagwi(까마귀)>, the exposition of Poe`s poem, two time repetition of such sentence as"...is endless pronunciation of `R` after `GA`-Kkaruru(까르르)", a woman`s visit, setting of space such as a room near the gate. Secondly, the meanings of calling a woman as s reader and the relations between the raven and tuberculosis are very significant in his novel. This two setting can explain in which way the `otherness` exist. Thirdly, different from his contemporary writer, his writing style is artificial. This aspect is shown through thick description. For example, there is a description of the main character`s living room which are composed of Sagunja(oriental painting of plum- blossoms, orchids, chrysanthemums and bamboos; 사군자), painting of celadons and broken-stemmed flowers(器皿折枝畵 ), and Chusache(the handwriting of Jeong-Hee Kim, one of Korean great calligraphers; 추사체). Above three components are not used as a simple description, but utilized exposing Lee`s view of the world. This point is directly related to his emphasis on description in expressing his view of the novel. Owing to this point, his novels are strained and can not be degraded as a simple aestheticism. In these respects, his writing have made out a category of `Literature as literary art` afterwards, which is epoch-making in the history of literature.
