The purpose of this paper is a study on the novel and its relationship to the media environment. There are two ways in which novel introduces media; one is shaping the experience of the nontext-media, and the other is technical introducing feature of the nontext-media. This study is based on the convergent point of view of how novels introduce media. There are several ways in which novels give shape to the experience of the nontext-media; (1) addiction to media (TV, movie, computer, and so on), (2) establishment of self-identity in the media society, and (3) critical understanding of the media. This includes mere criticism of media to the loss of self-identity in the digital society. Such experience of the media and its concrete shaping of the experience is related to the social subjectivity of the literature and the criticism of the society. There are two ways of technical introduction feature of the nontext- media; (1) introduction of the media and popular culture as a motif, (2) introduction of particularities of the media as narrative discourse. The former introduction is clearly expressed in the novels of the 1990s that characterize the cast and plotting stories of various taste cultures. The latter introduction is shown as a formal innovation for deconstruction of common narrative discourse and as a way of giving shape to insidious domination of the media society. Such crisis of modern literature is caused by the rampancy of popular culture and audio-visual media, and now is stated as "the end of the modern literature". This study has a meaning in the perspective where it suggests critical evaluation of the media and its basis on humanistic imagination. Nowadays, the list of competitors of modern literature includes TV, video, computer, and so on. If this dependency on mass media continues, there is no future for the modern literature. It is evident that the influence of the literature in the modern society is withered when compared, however, there`s no denial on the importance of novel in its shaping of the existence and reality of the mankind in the insidious media-dominated society. The novels that the writer is to present in the paper are the very evidence of such importance.
