The abstractness and the deconstruction that penetrate his poems escape from the existing rules, order and ideologies, and constantly spread out into a diverse world. That abstractness and deconstruction is finally realized through the narrative style of raw image. The metaphorical world in his early works is transfigured into the metonymic one. It is the change of consciousness world in which the poet looks at things. The things at which people look refractively with human desire and human ordered ideology in the age of capitalism are far from their original beings. Therefore, the raw image poems were produced in the consciousness world in which the poet wanted to look at the things as they are. In this theory of raw image, each thing is equal in its relation and there isn"t the intervention of a narrator or a subject in the disconnected things.
In ten collections of poems published from his first volume of poetry called “Clear Incident” in 1971 to the posthumous collection of his poems called “Doo Doo” in 2008, Oh Gyu-won continuously tried and transfigured into the ‘raw image’. It is intensively represented in his last collection of poetry, 『Doo Doo』.『Doo Doo』 indicates “Doo Doo Mul Mul”. It is a view of considering each thing as each way. It"s because the intervention of a subject leading the things between them disappeared that the poems in 『Doo Doo』 are especially shorter than ever. The subject could be an ideology or a people-oriented thought which Oh Gyu-won tried to exclude. Each thing is an itself and also the other, and an individual and also the whole because the idea of a subject disappeared. It is coincidently a peripheral existence and a central one, and a subject and an object.
There are two important characteristics in 『Doo Doo』: one is the structure of time circulation in the great nature and the other is Plato"s chora space that is described as ‘shade’ and ‘shadow’. The structure of time circulation is described as the structures of morning-afternoon-evening, night-morning and darkness-light and so on. The narrative style reaches forward to an open space on the flow of the time that constantly arises and passes away, and repeatedly continues. And the time of arising and passing away happens coincidently in one spot. The spot is a chora space, and it is the space for ‘shadow’ or ‘shade’ in Oh Gyu-won"s poems.
