This paper aims at the study on relations between Korean onomatopoeia for laughing and smiling and the lifestyle of Korean. There are a lot of onomatopoeia for laughing and smiling in Korean language, which give various useful informations for comprehension and understanding about utterances in dialogue. First, opening with special sound series in Korean onomatopoeia make our viewpoint to particular area of body. For example, 'ㅂ' sound series lead our viewpoint to the area of lip or mouth, 'ㅅ' to the area of mouth and eye area and 'ㄱ' to just body. Second, the type of word formation, especially possibility of derivation with such suffixes like '-georida(거리다)/-daeda(대다)', '-ida(이다)' or '-hada(하다)' etc see how long the laugh and smile goes on. For example, words with suffixes, '-georida(거리다)/-daeda(대다)' tend to be more continuous than words with '-ida(이다)' or '-hada(하다)'. Third, We can know who laughs or smile only from seeing onomatopoeia for laughing and smiling. "kkareureu(까르르), baesisi(배시시), hoho(호호)" see the person who laughs and smiles is woman or girl, Some korean onomatopoeia also give us the informations about Whether the person who laughs and smiles is adult or child, individual or group etc. Fourth, we can see pragmatic information, like as sinister or negative or such kind of situation etc. from some Korean onomatopoeia such as kkilkkil(낄낄), heuheu(흐흐), hijughijug(히죽히죽) etc.
Through this work we confirmed again that there is an inseparable relation between Korean language and Korean.
