The aims of this article is to explain the distance from Lee ki-young’s novels at the end of the japanese rule of dominant discourse of colonial power. Since then the Sino-Japanese war, the imperialist Japan met the needs of the welldisciplined Korean’s body to the Total war-system. It were rational methods to discipline Korean’s body that the colonial power established the volunteer system and the conscription system. But It was irrational purpose to establish those system, for it was something that is problematic of cultural identity.
In turn, the body discourse of the Lee Ki Young’s novels was linked in light of a struggle of classes from the era of proletarian literature. While the bourgeoisie body was contaminated with greed of money, the working class’s body was moral and aesthetic. But moralized and aesthecized working class’s body was deviated from the context of society-circumstance in those days. Meanwhile the working class’s body in the Productive-novel was placed under the state of feudal habit. Lee ki young wished to rationalize and discipline this out of date feudal habit.
The body discourse of the imperialist Japan wanted to replace korean’s identity with japanese’s, but this aim failed because of the difference between the korean and japanese of cultural identity. In turn, the body discourse of the Lee ki young’s novel was not aimed to change the cultural identity, but was aimed to overcome the feudal habit by means of the rational and disciplined regulation.
