I looked into Cho, Seong-Gi's life and his thought on the novel Changseongamuirok. Begin a humpback, he had a lot opportunity to read various novels about the confucianism, the buddhism, the taoism and the indecent story openly and widely in his house. therefore he fused the confucianism, the buddhism, the taoism and the folk belief into one in his novel very well, because as a confucianist, he was endowed with "moderate beauty" and "perfection of deformation".
After the Japanese Invasion of Korea in 1592 and the manchu war in 1636, the values was confused at that time, Creating a novel was neither affirmative nor negative in social structure. Grasping preface and epilogue, in which I know author's intention, I think the author recognized the interest which the story gave and he wrote novel in that way.
Author wanted readers to realize confucian ideas in the realities of their life through his novel Changseongamuirok.
I noticed that the author, Cho, Seong-Gi who wrote the Changseongamuirok with the capacity influenced on other novels later, and also noticed that he tried to change the society with his literary works.
Therefore author, Cho, Seong-Gi paved the way for direction of the way family novel and long story novel progressed in the late 17 century.
