This thesis researches into the figuration of socialists who are converse through the Kim Nam Cheon's Works. Specially I make an investigation into the tension the exposed and the covered. Because the exposed could be in existence in relation with the covered. The final purpose is research for the covered violence and self-consolation mechanism behind the scenes of the delicate description. There is working simultaneously mechanism of the description, violence and gender.
After 1937, all-out war footing writers are commonly in agony, the very conversion. At that time, the war between China and Japan there were a large number of conversions, that are limited to writers and highbrows. The conversed socialist writers published the novels there are protagonists who are converse. Kim Nam Chen composed novels focussing on the main character like as an architect and engineer, businessman and conversed writers.
Kim Nam Chen's works which combine the real description and the mechanism of gender make a disclosure and closure of immanent ideology of conversion. His new method and strategy, on the one hand seeks after real description for awakening the unreasonable actual world, on the other shows the desire for being reinstated life world. The realism rhetoric hide desire of narrator, therefore that desire could be sutured and violence of the event could be covered.

본 논문은 김남천의 소설을 중심으로 전향 이후 사회주의자의 형상을 드러난 것과 드러나지 않은 것 간의 긴장에 입각해서 살펴본다. 드러난 것은 항상 드러나지 않는 것과의 상관성 하에서만 존재하기 때문이다. 세밀한 묘사가 감추고 봉쇄하고 있는 폭력과 자기 위안의 메커니즘을 추적하는 것이 이 글의 최종적인 목적이다. 여기에는 묘사와 폭력 그리고 젠더화의 기제가 동시적으로 작용하고 있다.
1937년부터 본격화되는 전시 총력전 체제에서 문단 내 지식인들의 행보는 '전향'을 떼놓고 생각하기 어렵다. 중일 전쟁기가 이전까지의 '동요 모색'의 시기와 완전히 구분되는 '대량전향'의 시대라고 할 때, 전향과 전향자는 비단 실제 작가나 사상가들에게만 국한되지 않는다. 구 카프 계열의 작가들은 전향한 지식인들을 주인공으로 해서 여러 편의 소설들을 발표하기 시작한다. 김남천 역시 건설 기술자와 실업가, 전향한 사회주의자와 문학가를 중심인물로 삼아 서사를 주조해나간다.
묘사의 리얼함과 젠더적 기제가 합치된 김남천의 전향소설들은 전향의 체제 내적 이데올로기를 폭로하는 동시에 은폐하는 이중의 곡예를 보여준다. 현실의 부정성을 최대한 환기하는 그의 새로운 창작방법론이 묘사의 리얼함을 추동하지만, 이 묘사의 리얼함이란 생활 세계의 복귀를 전도된 방식으로 추인하는 발화자의 욕망을 암암리에 투사하고 있다. 있는 그대로의 현실을 재현한다는 리얼리즘적 수사에 가려 발화자의 욕망은 은폐/봉합되고, 사건(제국주의 전쟁과 아시아주의)의 폭력성은 일시적으로 메꾸어진다. 타자화된 여성의 시선과 물신화된 여성의 육체가 사건의 폭력성을 밑바닥까지 들여다보는 극한의 자기 성찰을 가로막았던 것은 아니었을까하는 것이 이 글의 마지막 결론이자 또 다시 이어지는 질문이다.
