Today Korean economy encounters a difficult situation. And Korean firms concentrate their efforts on making new strategy to overcome all difficulties. Of all components of cost of distribution the cost of transportation is most important. The cost of transportation is 21.3 of the cost of distribution. The size is 9-10 % of GNP. So the increase of the cost distribution hinders 1he growth of Korean economy. In view of our circumstances, we have to aim at promotion of trade. An expansion of foreign trade makes international distribution more important. But the system of international distribution has many problems.
This article describes the practical effect of distribution in view of container distribution and the rate system The growth of import-export trade makes harber important in transportation. But the investment in harber follows the trend of decrease.
The problems of marine transportation by container are;
First, the increase of cost because of the multistage of distribution system,
Second, the Jack of equipment of distribution,
Third, excessive dependence on road,
Forth, the lack of communication of information on distribution.
And the method of improvement is ;
First, the expansion of equipment of distribution,
Second, the simplification of related documents of distribution,
Third, the upbringing of distributor and the activation of transportation by rail and sea.
The problems of distribution rate system are ;
First, the irrationality of rate system,
Second, double charge of hate of storage,
Third, the irrationality of calculation of a measurement ton.
And the method of improvement is ;
First, Low charge on goods carried out of a bonded warehouse early,
Second, nullification of storage rate that is collected separatly,
Third, Increase of the role of transportation by rail
