Thinking influences behavior. Taking the online reviews of Korean pianist Yunchan Lim's concert at the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition as an object, this study observes, analyzes, and reflects on the differences in the thinking of the Chinese and Korean piano review groups using thematic analysis as a research method. The Chinese piano community has been looking forward to observing and learning the way of thinking of the Korean piano community from a close distance. After collecting, cleaning, coding, and analyzing the data from two large-scale online platforms in Chinese and Korean, the results revealed that six common themes existed in Chinese and Korean reviews: introspection, evaluation of virtuosity, interpretation of music, comments to the performer, emotional experience and evaluation by non-professionals. Comparative analysis revealed differences in thinking between Chinese and Korean audiences in four areas: holistic versus concrete, emotional versus rational, confronting the gaps, and evaluation criteria. This study seeks to observe the characteristics of the Chinese and Korean groups in music communication and dissemination in light of these differences and to help readers understand the music learning styles under the two modes of thinking.
