Through research on this article, I found a book called Korea’s Strange and Interesting Stories and Legends written by Gentaro Yamazaki in 1920, which had not been found in previous research, and Chunhyangjeon published in the July issue of Shoujo Gaho edited by Masao Nonagase in 1941. In this research, I will attempt to organize the significance of Japanese translation of novels during the Japanese colonial period. In Toru Takahashi's Japanese translation in 1910, it was based on the consciousness of Japanese civilization and Korean’s barbarism and adapted in a form to ultimately represent the position of the colonial rule. In 1920, Gentaro Yamazaki's Chunhyangjeon was translated with the purpose of boldly promoting Korean culture. Publication and translation of Chunhyangjeon continued from 1940 to 1945. It also appeared in the July issue of Shoujo Gaho in 1941, which was a megazine that girls liked to read. The Pacific War began in December 1941, and it was adapted with the significance of developing Japanese women's mental attitude for the war and enlightening them as virtuous women.
