This study investigates the role of language learning within the International Baccalaureate (IB) framework in fostering international-mindedness and preparing students for an interconnected global community. Through an analysis of language acquisition across the Primary Years Programme (PYP), Middle Years Programme (MYP), and Diploma Programme (DP), the study highlights how the IB framework enhances linguistic proficiency while cultivating adaptability, empathy, and open-mindedness, which are essential elements of global citizenship. The integration of multilingualism within the IB programmes is identified as crucial for enabling students to engage with diverse cultures and perspectives, thereby preparing them to contribute meaningfully in a globalized world. The study concludes the need for future research to conduct longitudinal studies across various IB schools worldwide and to explore the challenges and successes of implementing multilingual approaches in diverse educational contexts.
