As the size of the halal market increases, Korean companies hoping to enter the halal market are active in the cosmetics, medicine, and livestock sectors, focusing on food. To enter the halal market, these companies must go through the process of obtaining halal certification for their production facilities and products. The halalness of halal-certified products must be maintained from beginning to end. The process by which halal products are manufactured and delivered to final Muslim consumers through a distribution process is called the halal supply chain. Halal supply chain management requires that every process from the country of origin to the final consumer conforms to Islamic Sharia law. However, Muslim consumers still lack information about the supply chain and cannot be sure that there is no cross-contamination during the transportation and storage of halal products. Uncertainty about halal certification or halal quality causes economic and psychological damage to both consumers and suppliers. Therefore, the halal market needs an institutional device that can strengthen the safety and trust of the halal supply chain. This study aims to propose the use of QR codes as a way to strengthen the trust and the safety of the halal supply chain.
