Besides the literary works that Andrei Platonov created, he also wrote a variety of letters, which serve as an autobiography depicting the author's life story chronologically and unveil the secrets of his creation. This paper focused on the letters he sent to his wife and son as a war correspondent during World War II. The war was a recurrent tragedy, but as with past revolutions, it left a deep imprint on the consciousness of artists and changed Soviet art and culture trends. Platonov witnessed and experienced the war, and recorded it. The author's letters from the battlefield for three years reveal the horrors of war and his agony over how to record them and translate them into the language of art. This paper studied how the war experience recorded in his letters during this period is embodied in artistic prose, and how Platonov's literary works portray war, paying attention to the peculiarity of art. As the war reached its peak, Platonov pondered significant questions about the nature of death, resurrection, and mortal enemies. Platonov's inquiries into these issues are crucial for explaining the totalitarian mechanism of the 20th century and bearing testimony to World War II, the most tragic event in human history.
