This study aimed to explore the role of food neophobia in forming negative attitudes toward insect-based foods and to identify the perceptions of college students living in South Korea. A total of 400 questionnaires were distributed, and a self-report convenience sampling method was used. Of the distributed questionnaires, 336 were recovered, and excluding incomplete or insufficiently answered questionnaires, a total of 244 questionnaires were used in the final analysis. The hypotheses were identified through regression analysis and independent sample t-test using SPSS program. The results of the study showed that the higher the perceived food neophobia of college students, the more negative attitudes they had toward insect-based food, and it was confirmed that male students showed more negative attitudes toward insect-based food than female students. Limitations and future research directions are also discussed.
