The purpose of this study is to examine theory of planned behaviour (TPB) model to evaluate travel intention, and its extended version with additional variable related to food-related personality traits to see if food-related personality traits have any influence on travel intention. Among food-related personality traits, this study focused on food neophobic tendency using food neophobia scale (FNS), and Thailand was chosen to measure travel intention. Data collection of the study was conducted in Korea through online survey company, targeting who had not been to Thailand before. The total of 431 valid samples were obtained. Correlation and regression analyses were conducted to test the model. The findings of this study indicated that the TPB model provided feasible explanation in predicting intention to travel to Thailand. Attitude, subjective norms, and perceived behavioural control have positive influences on travel intention to Thailand. However, food-related personality and food neophobia showed negative influences on intention to visit Thailand in the extended TPB model. This study provides empirical evidence of the influence of food neophobic tendency on intention to travel. The results of this study will be helpful in developing effective marketing strategy of travel destinations.
