This study examines the investigation of Korean atomic bomb victims by the Japanese and Korean governments and civic groups after the bombing in August 1945. It explores the relationship between compulsory mobilization and atomic bomb victims, and analyzes the context and sources of atomic bomb victim documents. The study analyzes rosters prepared by the Japanese Ministry of Health and Welfare and civic groups, rosters prepared by the Korean government and research institutes, and records held by the Hapcheon Atomic Bomb Museum and the National History Compilation Committee. The study found that most of the workers who were compulsory mobilized in Hiroshima and Nagasaki were victims of the atomic bombing. Since the 1960s, surveys in Korea have been limited to living people, which represents less than 5,000 people, or 5% of the 100,000 announced by Japan's Ministry of Interior. Therefore, the study suggests the need to conduct an overall investigation by assigning a unique number to the lives of the victims of Hiroshima and Nagasaki and their descendants to create an accurate list. Furthermore, the study highlights the impact of atomic bomb exposure on the second and third generations, who suffer from various diseases and difficulties, and should be included in the damage category. Despite the passing of almost 80 years, there is still no list of Korean atomic bomb victims. The study proposes a full-scale investigation of the atomic bomb victims to serve as a basis for resolving this issue in the future.
