This study investigated and developed educational content focusing on diplomatic documents for Chinese learners of Korean. Chinese learners proficient in Korean are engaged in various areas such as diplomacy, economy, trade, and education. While diplomatic documents are important for foreign exchange, Korean language education lacks sufficient coverage of this topic.
To collect and analyze data, this study examines diplomatic documents published in the official gazette of the Republic of Korea, specifically those between the Republic of Korea and the People’s Republic of China. Since 1992, there have been 97 diplomatic documents, 68 of which were reviewed in this study. The study presents the purpose, necessity, and previous research related to this topic. Diplomatic documents were then organized, incorporating frequently used grammar and vocabulary into existing Korean textbooks. The study classified these language elements according to Korean textbooks and the National Institute of Korean Language’s “Development of Korean Language Education Vocabulary Contents (Step 4)” framework. Finally, the study provides a summary of the findings, along with the significance and limitations of the research.
