The purpose of this study is to investigate the perceptions of pre-service and secondary school teachers on the use of AI in instructional design. We investigated how they perceive the use of AI at each stage of instructional design, and what they expect and are concerned about when using AI in future classes. For this reason, a survey was conducted targeting pre-service teachers and secondary teachers. There were 216 pre-service teachers and 223 secondary school teachers who faithfully answered all questions, a total of 439. Response data were analyzed by frequency analysis, t-test, one-way ANOVA, and word cloud. As a result of investigating the perceptions of AI utilization in instructional design, a significant difference was found in the perceptions of pre-service teachers and secondary teachers in seven items. Items with a high recognition average were derived for each group. There was also a significant difference depending on the secondary teacher career. We also presented the instruction with AI that pre-service and secondary school teachers would like to implement and the future the instruction with AI that are expected. Finally, pre-service teachers expected convenience and ease of learner analysis when using AI. They were concerned about excessive dependence on AI and reduction of teacher roles. On the other hand, secondary school teachers had high expectations for learner analysis, need analysis of learner, and personalized instruction. They were concerned about overlooking emotional factors, excessive dependence on AI, and difficulty in emotional communication.
