Report Errors
Due to the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, which has been hitting the world since early 2021, non-face-to-face society has been progressing. The frequent exposure to the internet by men and women of all ages increased. In 2020, the number of Internet users in Korea was about 46,819,000, and the ‘internet use rate’ was 91.9%. Many Koreans also use the internet, and more than nine out of ten people use the internet. Following the generalization of the internet, Cybercrime in cyberspace is becoming a problem. New types of crimes occurring in the virtual space are recognized as social problems, and cyber security is crucial and emphasized. In particular, Various forms of cyberterrorism appear in our society, which can even be seen as the main factor threatening society. Cyberterrorism which means infringement of information and communication network is increasing.
This paper reviews the definition and types of cyberterrorism, and the relevant current regulations, and then suggests countermeasures. This paper proposes the enactment of the Framework Act on Cyberterrorism, the reestablishment of control towers against cyberterrorism, the training for the prevention and response of cyberterrorism, the international cooperation, and the training of experts for cyberterrorism response as countermeasures against cyberterrorism.
