본 연구는 교사들이 학교 내 교육활동에서 발휘되는 리더십에 관심을 가지고 계속적인 성장을 이루어나갈 수 있도록 교사리더십 수준을 진단하기 위한 도구를 개발하고자 수행되었다. 이를 위해 교사리더십의 개념과 진단문항 구성을 위한 요인들을 탐색하고, 이를 기초로 교사리더십 진단을 위한 문항을 개발하고자 하였다. 먼저 문헌분석을 통해 교사리더십의 개념과 요소, 특징 등을 탐색하여 교사리더십 진단도구를 위한 개념 모형을 도출하고, 교사리더십 진단도구의 구성요인을 토대로 교사리더십을 진단하기 위한 구체적인 행동과 인식에 대한 문항을 구성하였다. 개발된 진단도구는 전문가 내용타당도 검토 및 탐색적 요인분석, 확인적 요인분석을 통한 타당도 검사 과정을 거쳐 최종적으로 교사리더십 의식, 교사리더십 역량, 교사리더십 발휘 속성 등의 3영역, 12개의 하위 요소, 55개의 진단 문항으로 구성된 교사리더십 진단도구를 제시하였다.
