This study attempted to find the relationship between the strategic orientation and performances of IT SMEs by quickly absorbing new and emerging technologies in the market research flow. To find the structural relationship among absorptive capacity, strategic orientation, and performances, the survey was conducted on 216 from IT SMEs. And, with SEM was conducted to testify research hypotheses.
The main results are as follows. First, it was found that absorptive had the significant positive effect on customer orientation, competitor orientation, and technological orientation, Second, in the relationship between strategic orientation and technology performance, which is one of the performance variables, it was found that competitor orientation and technology orientation also had a significant positive effect on technology performance. Third, in the relationship between strategic orientation and technology performance on management performance, customer orientation and technology orientation had a significant positive effect on management performance. Additionally, it was found that the mediator effect of strategic orientation between absorptive capacity and technology performance and management performance. The findings of this study indicate that the absorption capacity of IT SMEs is important as a tool to create competitive advantage that can create various strategic implementation and expected performance.
