Christianity is no longer a Western religion and its center has shifted to the Global South. In such a time of change, theological education must flow out of the notion that Christians globally are reading the same Bible. A global theological education trains leaders to understand the Bible from within their local contexts and yet in the light of global Christianity, and to engage readings of the Bible in each location that is informed by readings of the Bible in every location. For this task, this article suggests that a global theological education must revive contextual hermeneutics on the one hand and engage missional hermeneutics on the other hand, in order to be contextually sensitive and missionally driven. In the new reality of global Christianity in the twenty-first century, the most appropriate way forward is to strive for a contextual-missional model of theological education that embraces contextual and missional hermeneutics for a globally-minded interpretation of the Bible.
