The purpose of this study was to analyzed the effect of social support on major satisfaction, major immersion, and career preparation behavior of college students majoring in Cooking and Food service industry. This study was to conducted a survey on university students who were second graders of two-year colleges and junior, senior of four-year universities located in Gwangju and Jeonnam. As a results of multiple regression analysis for hypothesis verification, it was found that two of the four factors of social support, which were evaluation support and informational support, had a positive effect on major immersion. Social support factors affecting major satisfaction were evaluation support, informational support, and material support. Among the three factors of major immersion, only two factors which is interest and knowledge had a positive effect on major satisfaction and career preparation behavior. Two factors of major satisfaction, instructer and curriculum satisfaction had a positive effect on career preparation behavior. Based on this, it is thought that major satisfaction and major immersion should be increased through career programs and experiential activities in the department, so that universities should actively engage in career preparation behavior. In addition, it suggests that developing and conducting counseling and mentee-mentor programs that can maintain complementary relationships between instructors, classmates, and seniors and juniors will play an important role in career preparation behavior.
