This paper examines Cha Melissa’s political action for building Korean nationstate after 1945. Cha Melissa started the political movements with right-wingwomen’s organizations. She had been closely related with Christian women whohad spreaded education movement under Japanese colonial period. It seems thatshe participated the establishments of rightist women’s organizations in connectionwith christian female activists. When rightists and leftists was in confrontation overFour-power Trusteeship of Korea, she stood on Anti-trusteeship side. In 1947, Cha shifted her political stance and voiced her solidarity with leftistswomen’s organizations like National Women’s League (전국부녀총동맹) and KoreanDemocratic National Front (민주주의민족전선). She declared a separation fromrightist after they changed their direction to establishing single government. Shehad devoted her whole life to liberation of the nation, develop women’s autonomyby the enlightenment campaign and education. In her twilight years, she made everyeffort to the total independence and unification of the nation.
