The purpose of this study is to examine the issues and the member’s proposals and positions on these issues of the fisheries subsidies sector under WTO/DDA negotiations including the 10th ministerial conference and the negotiating group on rules WTO fisheries subsidies and propose some feasible solutions for the development of fisheries’ industry of the Republic of Korea. There were major issues in this conference, for example, a definition and a scope of prohibitions of fisheries subsidies, special and differential treatment, transitional arrangements, standstill, transparency, surveillance, monitoring and notification related to the fisheries subsidies. The proposals of FFG and ACP included to improve and clarify the definition of the prohibited fisheries subsidies for implement of UN sustainable development goals until 2020 but the other members disagreed on disciplines of fisheries subsidies, therefore the negotiations were ended to be divided without any outputs for agreement regardless of endeavor and existence of most of members’ convergence on this proposal. However, it will be expected to be progress for regulations of fisheries subsidies in the next ministerial conferences or negotiations and to be converged toward achievements on this sector.
