The purpose of this study is to analyze the difference in student eye movements for the heading positions of column located between the left front or center of the table. The presented table was divided into a simple type (S type) and a complex type (C type) of table, and the column headings were shown in the f type displayed on the front of the table and the b type displayed in between. Eighteen high school students were sampled to collect eye tracking data after presenting S-f/C-b type or S-b/C-f type tables. The collected eye tracking data was analyzed in terms of total duration time, fixation count, fixation duration time, and the fixation ratio on target. The results of the study have been shown that the analyzing time of the table took longer for the b-type table in the case of simple tasks, and the longer for the f-type table in the case of complex tasks. In addition, when the ratio of fixation was changed from the S-f type to the S-b type, the ratio was increased. However, the ratio of fixation was decreased. when the C-f type changed to the D-b type. Furthermore, the duration time of fixation was significantly longer when the table type was presented in the form of a b-type task rather than in the f-type. This study is presumable provided an alternative interpretation of how the design of table in the textbook is presented to learners.
