This research recognizes the order in which adverbial particles are acquired in the interlanguage of Korean language learners and aims to illustrate the specific aspect of the acquisition. The subjects were limited to beginner’s level learners, and from a total of 8 learners, we have accumulated free conversation data. With periodic interviews for 5 months, we collected 85,620 words of spoken data, categorized adverbial particles according to their usage type, and analyzed these particles through annotation. It was revealed that adverbial particles develop in the order of ‘ey, eyse, hako, pota > (u)lo > eykey, kkey, lang > hanthey > eykeyse, wa/kwa > chelem’. As learning progresses, the meaning of each adverbial particles was found to be differentiated and expanded. Meanwhile, as learning progresses, learners seemed to misuse some particles which they rather accurately used at early stages. According to the analysis of the data, it has been revealed that particular adverbial particles are first acquired by formulaic expression and later develop syntactic formation. It is expected that providing these particles in grammar patterns will positively affect the process of its acquisition. Furthermore, it has been discussed that it is necessary to be cautious about the effects that textbooks and teacher talks in teaching can cause in the learners’ grammar development process.
