Premenstrual syndrome(PMS) occurs during the luteal phase of the menstrual cycle, which promoting PMS symptoms including physical, mental, and behavioral changes. The exact cause of PMS is unknown but is believed to be related to increasing prolactin secretion leads to an imbalance of estrogen and progesterone ratio. Estrogen decreases the release of luteinizing hormone (LH) and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) and increases prolactin (PRL). LH and FSH, released from the anterior pituitary, then enter into a complex feedback loop with progesterone and estrogen. The menstrual cycle is caused by the complex interaction of these hormones.
