This study attempts to consider an interactive capability based on liberated consciousness, which is emphasized in Chuang-tzu’s philosophical ideas, in connection with a process of reinforcement in disruptive self-awareness as exclusive identity that is involved with human alienation in the digital media society.
Development of digital network technology continues to accelerate in the modern society where digital-media-based changes in every daily life have become routinized. This reality strengthens the importance of communicative actions in everyday social life among modern-day people. Therefore, for them going about their daily life with digital media, digital network equates to a field for social relationship and at the same time logging in it an activity of social man. Logging in the network and responding to it mean acts that are not only confirmatory for self-existence, but also semanticized as the social man’s doing, while logging off leads to severance and isolation in terms of social significance.
Moreover, to build relationship in the digital world unfolding as a multiple simultaneous form with high technology-based digital network comes to be a social mechanism that continuously forces us (digital device users) log in. In this regard, we make ourselves lock in the digital network and confirm our existence. Also, we strengthen self-awareness to be proved ourselves through repeating a disruptive process involving with multiple simultaneous login and logoff.
According to Chuang-tzu’s philosophical ideas, he suggests disintegrating self-awareness, which is fixed, through independent spirit of freedom in order to retain the relationship of liberated interaction with the world. Therefore, it is considered that his ideas give us a chance to understand reinforcement of self-awareness in the digital media society ― in other words, to perceive the problem such as lose of self-awareness of human being alienated in the digital network. Such understanding on the basis of his ideas serves as a momentum to solve the problem. For such reason, development of liberated consciousness toward interaction, which Chuang-tzu suggests, involves with reviewing a formation process of exclusiveness of self-awareness and disruptive self-awareness.
