Purpose: This qualitative, phenomenological study aimed to understand and describe what nursing transferstudents experienced in the process of finding a job. Methods: Five transfer-students who graduated from two baccalaureate nursing programs participated in this study. Their mean age was 29; there were three males and two females; four were 4-year college graduates and one was a junior college graduate; four participants" previous majors were entirely different from nursing. They were asked to record and describe whatever they wanted to tell the researcher about their employment experiences. Their records included their feelings, thoughts, and so on. Data were collected from July, 2013 to September, 2014. A phenomenological analytic method suggested by Colaizzi was used to analyze the data. Results: This study’s data can be categorized into eighteen themes, eight theme clusters, and four categories. These are the categories that were extracted: ‘To do my best to get a job again’, ‘Employment information to seek by myself’, ‘Frustrated by the disadvantage of being a transfer student’, ‘Relieved by the hard-earned acceptance of employment". Conclusion: On the basis of these results, we can outline nursing transfer-students’ experiences of employment and provide systematic and emotional support for them. Additionally, we can develop programs to help them conveniently find a job, which in turn can lead to high-quality well-educated nurses.
