This study aims to investigate the phenomenon of remedialization distributed over the history of Lee Yong-Ak’s poetry. Concerning the theory of the medium, Lee Yong-Ak’s poems are accompanied by special phenomena that cannot be seen in other poets’ poems. The phenomena cause discursive changes all over Lee Yong-Ak’s literature and thought beyond changes in the styles and contents of individual works. Nevertheless, the phenomenon of the remedialization of the work and its influence on literary discourse have not been discussed exhaustively. For this purpose, this study solved the questions raised, adopting the concepts such as the action of the medium, the action of contract, and the deferred action of writing.
This study would investigate the relationship of the remedialization of the work has with the action of contract on ‘writing’ based on the preceding studies that exhaustively discussed the meaning of adaptation in the dimension of formalism and as a result, the way in which it reconstitutes the discourse. Studies asking about pro-Japanese tendency of Lee Yong-Ak’s literature in return, concerning remedialization take only adapted works as important grounds for an argument. This study is conducted with the poems included again without partial adaptation as well as the adapted works and poetic words used repeatedly in several works, despite there is no harmony of the context,
The relationships among the text, medium, and action explain the time difference of the contract in which a disguised language is expressed and performed. For Lee Yong-Ak, first, the time relationship between the text and the medium is disturbed. The expression of the text, which is the standard for the fulfillment of the contract and the action corresponding to that also changes. Especially, a few poems in which the tendency of the medium is specifically pro-Japanese and the expressions of the text are the same are more problematic. In this case, in the tendency of the medium and text explicitly revealed without ambiguous disguise, the action has already been as good as completed. The discourse of criticism of Lee Yong-Ak’s literature should be reconstituted through a precision inquiry into the remedialization process, the effect of its ex-post consequences, and the contract between the text and the act.
