The purpose of this paper is to examine the distinguished techniques in Lee Yong-ak's poem, 'There was full of the insect's sound'(풀버렛소리 가득차잇섯다]), 'An old house'([낡은집]), 'The violet'([오랑캐꽃]) and to find out poetic effects and the meaning of them. These three poems are selected because they reveal the different poetic intentions with very different poetic techniques. This paper begins from the assumption that lyricism is embossed in front in 'There was full of the insect's sound', narrative technique is actively used in 'An old house', and poetic idea is developed through dramatic conversion. And it demonstrates that these three poems constitutes the three summits of Lee Yong-ak's poetry which has different poetic intentions.
In ‘There was full of the insect's sound' repetition is embossed in front and contributes to the unification of poetic atmosphere and through this, lyricism is ensured. Therefore, the power of appealing is originated from urgency and truth of personal experience of the speaker. 'The insect's sound'(풀버렛소리), repeated three times including the title, plays the role of overtone and functions as auditory montage. The meaning of tranquility and emptiness reveals the desolate feeling of the speaker who lost his father. This poem, originated from the personal experience of the poet, belongs to one of aspects of poetry which reveals the experience of his whole personality, coming from thoughts, feelings and expressions which is true and sincere.
In 'An old house', information is properly constituted and it is given shape as a well-wrought story. The speaker of this poem does not capture a certain moment with excellent metaphor or jump, however, constitutes his information appropriately with serene tone. And this functions very effectively as a way of attacking the contemporary reality very sharply. Thus, well-wrought story form of 'An old house' suggests one aspect of poems which could penetrate into our lives.
'The violet' revels disillusion and renewal of the subject through poetic jump. The process in which 'I' is renewed as a new 'I' does not progressed in order according to daily custom. The renewal always requires dramatic moment. The contradictory attitude of the speaker in line I and 3 is not arose from failing to complete the form of the poem. It should be understood that it is caused by the dramatic conversion of the speaker's attitude. The poem 'The violet' could be seen as one aspect of poems which dramatically reveals disillusion and renewal of the subject, not a poem which shows insight into the period nor a poem. which expresses the subject's compassion toward 'Violet'(오랑캐꽃).
