This study aims to analyze a children"s play at the end of the Japanese colonial era by comparing and analyzing the children"s play, <Tuition fee>, written by Abe Kazuma and Kim Sang-deok. The original children"s play is Woo Soo-young"s writing, <Tuition fee>, which won the Joseon Governor-General"s Award in a writing contest for the KyungIl student newspaper, and which is also the origin of the film <Tuition fee>. Abe encouraged the use of the play to maximize the young nation’s education in the Japanese language of the young nation and tried to convince them of the "In-go-dan-ryeon" or training for patience by reading the imperial subject narration and singing Changga Inae"s song. Kim Sang-deok"s <Tuition fee> is based on the scenario of <Tuition fee>, which emphasizes the Nae-sun-il-che or the ‘Korea and Japan are One’ policy through a class on "our country" maps depicting the Japanese archipelago and the Joseon Peninsula. In addition, he inserted still photos of the yet to be shot film into the children"s play, created a theme song by composer Minoru Shizumi and songwriter Kusakawa, and made headlines when he performed the children"s play at Kyungsung Dongsimwon.
The children"s play <Tuition Fee> is an important meaning in three ways. First, the two works could be a proof of how deeply the Joseon Governor General was interested in Woo Soo-young"s writing. Second, the works are entirely in the Japanese language text, carrying out the Japanese authorities" policy of using the Japanese language for the young nation of Joseon. Third, the children"s play <Tuition Fee> is the starting point for voluntary cooperation by Kim Sang-deok, a pro-Japanese children"s play and pro-Japanese children"s writer who promotes the policy of the Joseon Governor-General.
