Lee, Jung-hee․Seo, Jin-suk. 2010. 2. 28. A Study on Development of Effective Vocabulary Material in Korean Language Education. Bilingual Research 42, 195-218. Compared to the utmost importance of 'vocabulary' in the process of communication, there are not many institutions related to Korean language education where offer a course of 'Studying Vocabulary' as an individual class and have developed a systematic curriculum for it. The reason for this can be inferred from the recent trend in Korean language education that puts an strong emphasis on 'Integrated Curriculum' which has controlled over the areas of developing textbooks and teaching methods in classroom. Therefore creating a course of vocabulary in different function or in different parts of speech seems to be unrealistic at the moment. However, as long as the goal of education is to improve learners' ability in communication, as one method of improving accuracy and fluency in Korean language. This paper has examined the learning materials of synonym, antonym, and the word-field in intermediate level. Intermediate level seems to be appropriate for a single vocabulary course; I particularly looked at the relationship of meanings in words, and how learners present the learnt vocabulary due to this relationship. I also have discussed the basic contents for developing textbooks for studying vocabulary especially in terms of creating an effective vocabulary material in Korean language education. The examples of the study are synonym such as '받다, 얻다' and antonym such as '얻다, 잃다' as well as the subordinating word group for the abstract super ordinates of [받다], [얻다].
