Junganbyeo is a japonica rice variety derived from a cross of Namyang 72* Hapcheon 1 by the rice breeding team ofNational Crop Experiment Station, RDA, in 1999 and was released in 2000. This is a medium-early variety with growth durationtdark gren leaves. It has a good panicle shape with about 100 spikelets per a panicle and rare awns. Milled rice is translucent andmedium small in grain size with non-glutinous endosperm. This variety is moderately resistant to leaf blast but susceptible to otherdiseases and insect pests. The yield performance of Junganbyeo is about 5.30 MT/ha at direct seeding culture and 5.80 MT/ha atareafor direct seeding culture and the southern mid-mountainous area of Korea for transplanting culture.
