This study is to analyze the philological character of ZangShu(葬書). ZangShu is one of the oldest and representative FengShui documents, and especially famous for FengShui XingQi(形氣) theories. In spite of its fame, a systematic research for ZangShu was not yet fulfilled up to now in Korea. It is the main reason of this study. The results from this research were described as following.
GuoPu(郭璞), as known of ZangShu's writer is famous in WeiChen(魏ㆍ晉) dynasty for his accurate FengShui methods. His FengShui theories were more powerful in Tang(唐) dynasty. In Tang(唐) dynasty his FengShui theories widely disseminated and held a great position. ZangShu's basic FengShui theories were formed in WeiChen(魏ㆍ晉) dynasty. It means ZangShu's FengShui theories are the results of before generation's empirical knowledge. ZangShu's block books are variously edited. Diizhizhiyuanzhen(地理直指原眞), Gujintushujicheng(古今圖書集成) and Dilizhengzong(地理正宗) are edited in one chapter. Dilidaquan(地理大全) and Kyujangkakbon(奎章閣本) are edited in eight chapters. Sikuquanshu(四庫全書), LiuJiang DongJiaZangShanBen(劉江東家藏善本) are edited in three chapters. Diitianjihuiyuan(地理天機會元) are edited in nine chapters. Libenfanglaoshi zuchuanben(李本芳老師祖傳本) is edited in twelve chapters.
There are omission and wrong parts in variously edited ZangShu, but the main FengShui theories are basically same with each other. It means ZangShu's contents are very effective in every generation and it's FengShui theories are one of the representative theories in FengShui history.
Now to understand traditional FengShui theories in Korea, we have to understand the main FengShui theories in Choson dynasty at first. For understanding to understand Choson FengShui, the study on philological character of ZangShu is a basic work. Because ZangShu is the main FengShui text book in whole period of Choson dynasty. If these works are prosecuted successfully, we can understand FengShui theories and FengShui itself more correctly.
