이 연구는 소아치과 행동조절 영역에서 역할극 수업에 참여한 학생들의 만족도와 성취도를 분석하여 역할극 수업의 효용성을 평가해보고자 하였다. 93명의 학생은 19조로 나누어져 의사, 환자, 해설자, 보호자, 진료 보조자군으로 역할이 무작위적으로 배분되었다. 역할극 후, 역할극 수행점수가 부여되었으며, 학생들은 설문지를 작성하였다. 모든 학생들은 지필고사에 응시하였으며, 강의와 역할극 중 효과적이었던 수업을 선택하도록 하였다. 결과는 Mann-Whitney U test, Independent T-test, Kruskal-Wallis test로 분석되었다. 역할극이 행동조절 영역의 지식습득에 효과적이었다고 평가한 68명(73.1%)의 학생들은 강의 선택군보다 높은 만족도를 보였으나, 역할극 수행점수와 지필고사에서는 차이가 없었다. 환자 관련 시나리오에 참여한 학생들은 보호자 관련 시나리오 학생보다 지필고사서술형영역과 역할극 수행점수에서 높은 성취도를 보였다. 역할에 따른 차이는 없었다. 역할극에 대한 만족도는 구성 및 참여한 시나리오의 성격에 따라 달라질 수 있지만, 학생들이 흥미를 가지고 적극적으로 참여할 수있는 효과적인 교육방법으로 활용될 수 있을 것으로 보인다.
