This study was to develop an instructional program of the ‘Unit of Diversity of Life' to improve students' scientific creativity and to analyze the effect of this program. Instructional program about the classification of living things was developed using Creative Problem Solving(CPS), one of the models of the creative problem solving, to improve students' creative thinking. Each lesson contained the CPS stages. For students to experience the creative thinking process of the biologists, we analyzed the development of the classification system from the history of biology, and applied the taxonomists' thinking process to the program. At the data finding stage of CPS, the paper cards, on which the pictures and features of the specific living things were printed, were used. The developed program was applied to two classes(64 students) of 12th grade in a high school located in Seongnam City. In order to identify the effect of the instructional program, the creativity test, the achievement test, and the questionnaires asking students' perceptions about the program were designed and administered. The results showed that students' scientific creativity was enhanced through the CPS program, but teaching strategies asking divergent thinking were not effective for improving students' scientific creativity and content achievement.
