A biology simulation type courseware which could be used in an experiment on the environmental factors affecting the rate of photosynthesis was developed with Macromedia Authorware 6.0. The main part of this courseware consists of Simulation Window, Pop-up Graph Window and Exercise Window for practicing how to make an virtual experiment using this computer program. In the virtual biology experiment using this courseware, students can control the light intensity, CO2 concentration and temperature, and the numbers of gas bubbles emitted during photosynthesis and the result graphs are given as the experimental results. To examine the practicability and the effectiveness of the courseware, 32 biology teachers tried it individually on-line and 3 teachers used it in their lessons. The analysis of the teachers' opinions about the courseware revealed that this courseware would be useful and helpful to their teaching the environmental factors affecting the rate of photosynthesis.
