In this study, courseware was developed for teaching cell division, which included a simulation of the cell division process so that students could have a concrete experience of cell division moving chromosome model to daughter cells. The courseware had three major contents: chromosome, mitosis, and meiosis. Karplus's learning cycle model was applied in the instructional design of this courseware and the research results on students' misconceptions about cell division were also considered. Especially the learning activity of exploration was emphasized so that students could point out their own misconceptions of cell division and difficulties in learning. This courseware was developed using Macromedia Authorware v7.02 and could be run on the personal computer with the operating system of Microsoft Winows XP. Internet web version of the courseware was also developed.
