최근 치안수요의 증가로 인하여 민간경비에 대한 수요가 증대되고 있다. 따라서 이 연구는 민간경비업의 저변확대와 민간경비원들의 정체성을 확립하고 양질의 치안서비스를 제공할 수 있는 기초로써 민간경비원의 삶의 질에 관심을 가지고 연구를 수행하였다.
조사를 위하여 이 연구에서 이용된 방법으로는 문헌연구와 민간경비원을 대상으로 실태조사 그리고 전문가들을 대상으로 면담을 실시하여 의견을 반영하였다.
실태조사는 2008년 7월 20일에서 8월 20일까지 설문지를 통한 자기기입방법으로 삶의 질에 대한 인식조사를 실시하였다. 조사대상자는 시설경비, 호송경비,기계경비, 신변보호경비, 특수경비 등의 경비업체 중에서 근무하는 민간경비원을모집단으로 설정하여 서울, 인천, 대구, 부산 등의 4개 지역에서 근무하는 400명의 민간경비원을 다단계층화집락표집으로 표본을 추출하였다. 특히 민간경비원은 일반경비원과 특수경비원으로 구분되며, 일반경비원은 다시 시설경비, 기계경비, 호송경비, 신변보호로 구분되므로 이러한 경비유형별 특성을 반영하여 구분하였다.
연구 결과 민간경비원의 삶의 질 영역별 만족도가 민간경비원의 전반적인 삶의 질 만족도에 미치는 영향은 다음과 같다. 민간경비원의 삶의 질의 영역별 만족도 중 건강만족도, 주거가족만족도, 재정만족도, 여가생활만족도가 전반적인삶의 질에 영향을 미치는 요인인 것으로 나타났다. 즉 건강만족도, 주거가족만족도, 재정만족도, 여가생활만족도가 높을수록 민간경비원의 전반적인 삶의 질 만족도는 높았다. 따라서 민간경비원의 삶의 질이 전반적으로 향상되기 위해서는건강만족도와 주거가족만족도, 재정만족도, 여가생활 만족도를 향상시키는 것이필요하다는 것을 알 수 있었다.
These days, demands for private security services are increasing. Thus,the research would identify the life quality of private security guards,corroborate the extent of the quality, consequently suggesting the ways to improve the life quality of those private security guards.
For the research and experiment the paper conducted a research on written documents, interviews on security guards and experts. Interviews were conducted between July 20th, 2008 and August 20th, 2008, and the method was spreading the questionnaire. The sample was taken through questionnaire spreaded to 400 guards working at private companies to assistant facility guards, transportation guards, machine guards, body guards, specialized guards through out four regions of Korea at Seoul,Incheon, Daegu, and Busan.
Especially private security guards are categorized into regular securities and specialized securities and those regular securities are again categorized into facility guards, machine guards, transportation guards, body guards.
The result granted through the experiment is following.
The research on overall satisfaction levels on life qualities affected by satisfactions levels on each categories showed satisfaction levels on health,housings, financial matters, leisure affects overall satisfaction levels. In another word, the relationship between satisfaction levels on overall life quality and satisfaction levels on health, housings, financial matters, leisure was direct and proportional. As a result, it is evident that to improve overall life quality of the private security guards it is necessary to improve satisfaction levels of health, housings, financial matters, and leisure.
Specifically it is essential to improve satisfaction levels of health, for the quality is a basic quality that affects basic life quality. To do so, it is necessary to set fundamental, or institutionalized, policy that helps private security guards to relieve stresses from the workplace. As well it is also necessary to increase the amount of time spending on leisure activities to improve relationships between family and friends after getting out of the workplace.
In addition, the increased amount of salary is needed to prevent private bankrupt situation of those security guards caused from lack of funding because of low levels of salary, which leads to lowering of satisfaction levels on financial matters. In fact it has been thought that the fundamental cause of lowering the life quality of security guards as well as workers from other fields of industries was low levels salary.
Consequently South Korean government has set an institutional policy to help workers having opportunity to get fair judgement on their ability and level of salary. Unlike the ideal, the research proves that the salary level of those private security guards is still too much underestimated.
