This study is to evaluate political conflicts in Thailand after 2005 and their future. While the recent political conflicts are regarded as those between pro-Thaksin group, and anti-Thaksin group, the origins of the political conflicts are as follows:First, Thai political development in the past was often interrupted by military coups. Major political elites during the stage of military and bureaucratic control emerged not from political parties, but from the military organization. The fact that political parties were not the main provider of political elites continued for more than 50 years. Second, the linkage between political leaders and general public was loosened as all political parties were not formed centering around a handful of powerful political leaders. Third, political parties have consisted of diverse political groupings with heterogeneous memberships. Their organizational structure has been week fragmented, and undisciplined. They have aggregated a loose conglomeration of individuals, cliques, and factions, rather than organized or semi-organized interest groups upholding some common policy goals or program. Fourth, the general characteristics for traditional political culture are closely related to the development of politics as before today as follows : 1) authoritarianism: the fragility of infrastructure ; 2) social character of power-oriented: politics of vortex ; 3) collectivism, the lack of identification, strong personalism. Now, Thailand is experiencing the political change from the political regime's transformation and also a lot of restraints for the development of political development. In my opinion, nowadays Thailand is in a critical period. There is no other time in which people-based politics is of urgent ndevssity. If we fail in establishing the people-based politics, not only the internis of urgent will become more aggravated, but the existence and power utilization of Thailand also seem to be unclear. And then the democracy in Thailand may remain only in its name.
