Malay pantun from Kalbar must to be seen as literary creation from specific Malay socio-cultural milieu, deeply shaped by local outlook and traditional values of the peoples.
We are happy to notethat through their creativity, the pantun poets have caught and preservedfor posterity the spirit, the humor, pains and longings of Kalbar Malays who are also
looking for a space on the map of human history. It is through these works that we are given an opportunity to look at some aspects the Malay language, culture and literature in Kalbar.
Reading them, we are touched by the sincerity and workmanship in the pantun in terms of their images, rhymes, metaphors and symbols which otherwise would probably have passed by unaware. Looking from that perspective, these works have certainly provided us with another important source of indigenous Malay world knowledge and epistolomogy.
