The purpose of this study is to analyze the meanings of the determiner ‘mae’ and the auxiliary particle ‘-mada’ which indicates indirect plurality and to determine whether they could be combined with Korean plurality marker ‘-deul’. Since Korean language is relatively less restrictive than other languages, when the plurality is expressed it is not compulsory to use it and many cases could be found, where plural meanings are likely to be constructed without plurality. This study mainly focuses on the determiner ‘mae’ as well as the auxiliary particle ‘-mada’ which mean ‘event plurality’ by repetition of an event and action. The nouns which combines with the auxiliary particle ‘-mada’ and the determiner ‘mae’ are divided into four groups, animated or inanimate nouns, event or action nouns, time nouns, and place or space nouns. As a result, the meanings of the auxiliary particle ‘-mada’ and the determiner ‘mae’ depend on the groups of nouns and the determiner ‘mae’ is more restrictive than ‘-mada’ when it comes to indicating indirect plurality. ‘Mae’ cannot modify the specific nouns or the ones which refer to an exact place or time but the ones which have regularity and periodicity.
