In this study, we investigated the method to improve the noise component of tire when the tire is cornering. Since the noise is deteriorated due to the change of footprint on the cornering, it is necessary to find the cause of the NVH of deterioration through the tire characteristic test analysis for the cornering state.
In advance, tires running at a certain distance in the general market were collected, anechoic is tested in chambers and vehicle NVH tests. In addition, we proposed a method to improve the noise degradation on the cornering, and predicted the improvement effect of wear by simulation analysis and compared the noise improvement effect by applying the improvement method.
Therefore, this study presents the possibility of applying the improvement method to the tire pattern in the future by suggesting the tire characteristic analysis method, the pattern noise simulation method and the cause of the deterioration of the road noise and the improvement method for analyzing the cause of the deterioration of the cornering tire.
As the tire is cornering, the pattern noise and the road noise component of the high frequency component was deteriorated in the actual car and the room anechoic NVH chamber due to the leading edge of footprint. Analysis of pattern noise simulation and static characteristics showed that noise reduction was caused by block stiffness enhancement due to decrease of residual percent of kerf.
Through this study, it was possible to understand the cause of tire noise degradation on the cornering, and it is considered that deterioration NVH phenomenon can be improved by increasing the kerf ratio. Further progress is needed to suggest a detailed design guide.
