The objective of this study was to explore the father related home literacy environments and father’s literacy interaction. The subjects for the study were 119 children aged 3, 4 and 5 years and their fathers. Father related home literacy environments and father’s literacy interaction were measured using Parent"s Literacy Interaction Questionnaire developed by Son & Kim(2012). The results were as follows: (1) All families had more than 151 children’s books and most fathers read with their children 1 or 2 books a week but never went to the libraries with children. The frequency of the child seeing their father reading, going to the bookstores, and using educational computer programs was higher in fathers of five-year-olds than those of three and four-year-olds. (2) Fathers of four and five-year-olds did more open interaction and less directive interaction than fathers of three-year-olds. (3) The relations between fathers related home literacy environment and the father’s literacy interaction were as follows: - The more fathers went to the libraries or bookstores with children and the more children saw fathers reading, the more fathers interacted openly. The more fathers went to the bookstores with children, the less the fathers interacted directively.
