Subjects: To find out the difference by background variable in the students on the school violence, this study was performed with 300 parents of elementary, middle and high school students across our country. Total 300 questionnaires were distributed and 200 questionnaires (67%), which answered sincerely, were processed as data. Subject of inquiry: First, is there any difference in the understanding on the cause of school violence according to the background variables of the students? Second, is there any difference in the understanding on the seriousness of school violence according to the background variables of the students? Third, is there any difference in the understanding on the prevention of school violence according to the background variables of the students? Results of Study: First, regarding the difference in the causes of school violence according to the background variables of the students, the significant difference was found according to the ages of the parents, the parents" experience of school violence, and the students" experience of school violence. Second, regarding the difference in the seriousness of school violence according to the background variables of the students, the significant difference was shown according to the ages of the parents. Third, regarding the difference on the understanding of the preventive measure of school violence according to the background variables of the students, the significant difference was shown according to the ages of parents, gender of the students and the birth order of the students.
