Yeog Eo Yu Hae’ is a Chinese vocabulary book based on a discussion between Sa Yeog Won’s Shin I-Haeng and other translators and Chinese people in the Joseon Dynasty in 1682. After a lot of correction, this book was published as a block book in 1690.
‘Yeog Eo Yu Hae’ was completely reviewed by Chinese people, and the oral vocabulary was included in this book. This book has been rated as a very important reference of Chinese studies in the 17th century.
The phonetics of ‘Yeog Eo Yu Hae’ are represented by left pronunciation and right pronunciation. Left pronunciation reflected the orthoepist pronunciation (reading pronunciation), whereas right pronunciation reflected the then pronunciation of Northern China.
Therefore, the right pronunciation of ‘Yeog Eo Yu Hae’ is a very important reference of Chinese pronunciation in the 17th century, but also an important clue in the history of Chinese linguistic changes. Therefore, the right pronunciation ‘Yeog Eo Yu Hae’ was written using the Korean alphabet, so in this regard it will be able to more clearly determine the then pronunciation system.
The purpose of this paper is to investigate the right pronunciation of ‘Yeog Eo Yu Hae’ in Group Jian and Group Jing, which showed the phonetic phenomena of the Ming Dynasty in China.

1. Devoicing.
2. Glottal stop terminal’s disappearance
3. Mark of Jianyin and Tuanyin’s confluence
4. Medial sound [i] appearance in Group Jian’s 2nd words
5. Words in Yue and Jue not changed to [-ye]
6. Non-opposition in ancient Jian between Shan & Shan and Xian & Xian
